Who would've thought this journey began all the way back to 2014, watching David Beckham on TV. A part of me (Salts) wishes it was less try-hard and more organic, but honestly, Sam & I were suckered in by the cool factor. That day we decided to learn to ride motorcycles and you could say the rest was history.
For background, I met Sam during our uni days at Cardiff Metropolitan University, where we occasionally crossed paths, more often than not in Revolutions (a well-known club in Cardiff at the time)... but playing professional cricket for Glamorgan took me all around the world spending our winters overseas. I know, tough job but someone had to.
What lots of people don't know about me is I was also a professional 'sofa-surfer'. With spending no more than six months in the country over the course of four years, I more often than not ended up lodging with Sam and university friends where later on I became a permanent fixture.
So, it was during this time that Mr Beckham cast his spell on me and Sam. Skip a couple of years whizzing our 125's around Cardiff and it was time to pass the full test and get our first 'big bikes'.
Yep, this is was the start of the biking obsession. 125cc Mutt Motorcycle.
If it wasn't for Sam's dad being an absolute genius, building the most beautiful custom motorcycles, I would've skipped past this part of the story and defaulted to adding more photos.
But it was here that Sam & father Cid (@cidmotorcycles) bought a £500 seized 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT and not only brought it to life but built a full custom build cafe racer.
Fair to say it was not for the faint-hearted and probably not the first 'big' bike you'd choose. Ghost neutrals, chokes on each carb and some good ol' Italian character to wrestle with... these were the good times.
As you'll come to see later in this blog if you make it that far, is that the Guzzi is still going stronger than ever and has become a part of furniture at Baffle.
